About Satou
A Japanese cuisine restaurant in Hiroo and Shirokanedai, serving balanced dishes that bring seasonal vegetables to the table in a quiet residential neighbourhood of Shirokanedai.
A quiet place to slow down
Our wish is to offer a space where you can forget the hustle of the city and spend time slowly.
Satou was created with that thought in mind. We are a Japanese cuisine restaurant set in a quiet residential street of Shirokanedai, where guests can settle in comfortably whether the occasion is a business reception, a gathering with colleagues, or a meal alone at the counter.
Before opening, our manager learned the craft of hospitality behind the bar at a bar in Nishi-Azabu and as the female manager (mikan) of the udon kappo restaurant “Inaniwa”. In May 2005 the female manager opened this restaurant on her own, and in its 8th year it moved to Shirokana, where it stands today.
Day by day we work to keep that space comfortable, so that each guest can take their time and enjoy the meal.
Satou is a Japanese cuisine restaurant serving seasonal dishes in the quiet residential streets of Shirokanedai, with a second location in Hiroo. The kitchen places vegetables at the centre of the table, letting each plate follow the rhythm of the season rather than a fixed menu. The interior is designed as a place to slow down, a calm counterpoint to the pace of the surrounding city, where guests can settle in comfortably for a business reception, a lunch with colleagues, or a meal taken alone. Attention is given to the balance of flavours and the careful presentation of each dish, so that dining here feels unhurried and attentive to the ingredients. Balanced meals with seasonal vegetables
Many of our guests come from business receptions and regular dining out, and they often find themselves short on vegetables or uneven in their nutrition. Thinking of those guests, we prepare balanced dishes that incorporate seasonal vegetables, using carefully selected ingredients that are in season.
Seasonal ingredients
Vegetables in season are folded into the menu rather than added as an afterthought, so each plate stays in balance.
Table and counter seats
Ten table seats for receptions and gatherings, and ten counter seats where you can watch the cooking up close.
A playful touch
The comma in the name “Satou,” is a touch of playfulness, and the restaurant aims to carry a little of that spirit.
